The following are a list of links to resources that educators may find useful when integrating and using technology to teach GIS and mapping in Social Studies:
This page hosts a number of items of value to educators wishing to use GIS in their classroom including:
- Social Studies GIS Related Learning Outcomes (Grades 3 to S4)
- ESRI Tutorials (learn to use ESRI GIS software using on-line tutorials)
- Lessons Created by Manitoba Educators (lessons listed are suitable for educators and students)

Provides an interactive view of the earth (rotate, tilt, zoom, and search). Manipulate the planet earth and zoom in to get digital satellite images on places around the world. Detail is often so good you can see buildings and cars on the road. (Requires the download and installation of the "free" viewer, and a computer with a decent video card and speed)
World Wind lets you zoom from satellite altitude into any place on Earth. Leveraging Landsat satellite imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data, World Wind lets you experience Earth terrain in visually rich 3D, just as if you were really there. Virtually visit any place in the world. Look across the Andes, into the Grand Canyon, over the Alps, or along the African Sahara. (Requires the download and installation of the "free" viewer, and a computer with a decent video card and speed)
Need a map of any area of North America or the world. Use the country, city, and street to find the map of streets around a point of interest.
