Smartie Math - Did you know that you can practise making fractions with a box of Smarties? Ask your child how.

Students are working with decimals, fractions, and percents.

Students have worked with ratio and problem solving. We are moving into operations such as multiplication and division using whole and decimal values.

Here are some multiplication rules:

x 2 you double

x10 is like x 5 x 2

x 0, the answer is always zero

x 4 is like doubling and doubling again

x 3 is tripling

x 6 is triple then double

x9 is triple then triple again

x 7 is like x 5 and x 2 and add your results

x 8 is double, double and double again

Our Math program has been augmented with the use of "Digi Blocks" and Power of Ten materials specifically designed for students in the middle years.

Exactly what is a "digi"? Ask your child to explain to you how they work.
