2010 Manitoba Research Institute: Young Entrepreneurs Challenge

For 20 years, the Young Entrepreneurs Challenge has offered Manitoba high school students an opportunity to gain valuable business skills. The Challenge actively encourages Manitoba students to consider business careers and has served to supplement business courses and curriculum. Under the management of the Manitoba Research Institute, the Challenge has seen its most successful year to date, with 400 students and 100 teams participating.

The Challenge ends with a provincial championship held at Brandon University during the Capturing Opportunities Event. The top 8 teams are eligible to move into the final competition and compete for up to $3500 in prizes. Awards were presented at the Capturing Opportunities Manitoba Hydro Celebration Banquet on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Keystone Center.

Congratulations to the following Reston Collegiate students David Moore, Delia Jackson, Michelle Reid and Keegan Vinck on their bronze medal achievement and a cheque for $500. In addition to the cash award, the school will also receive a scholarship for another $500 that will be matched by all Manitoba Universities and Colleges totaling $1000.

H1N1 Flu Outbreak  -   School Reporting

No unusual absenteeism reported as of:

When a report of unusual absenteeism is received, the school contacts public health for expert advice and direction. Public health will tell the school if any changes need to be made to reduce the spread of infection, and the school will inform parents of these recommended changes. It is important to note that absenteeism reports may not be because of the flu. Absenteeism may be related to other medical or non-medical reasons. For more information on how to reduce your risk of H1N1 flu, visit www.manitoba.ca/flu
