MHSAA Provincial Badminton Champions
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Kelsey
and Chris Elliott of Reston Collegiate finished off their high school
sports year on a positive note. They won the 2011 Men's Doubles Provincial
Badminton Championship for the second year in a row. It was their third
time competing at Provincials, winning third at their first appearance
in 2009. This year they were undefeated in their pool in a round-robin
format. In the second day, playoff format, their only loss was in the
A side final. They were able to win the B side and had to win the next
two games against the team that they lost to earlier to capture the
title. Pictured here are Mr. Calendar (coach), Kelsey, Mrs. Bartel (coach),
and Chris.

Reston
Collegiate students capture silver medals at the 2011 Manitoba Research
Institute: Young Entrepreneurs Challenge.
For
over 20 years, the Young Entrepreneurs Challenge has offered Manitoba
high school students an opportunity to gain valuable business skills.
The Challenge actively encourages Manitoba students to consider business
careers and has served to supplement business courses and curriculum.
Under the management of the Manitoba Research Institute, the Challenge
has tested the skills of over 150 students and close to 40 teams in
the 2010/11 school year.
The
Challenge ends with a provincial championship held at Brandon University
during the Capturing Opportunities-Business and Community Forum. The
top 8 teams are eligible to move into the final competition and compete
for up to $3500 in prizes. Awards were presented at the Capturing Opportunities
– Manitoba Hydro Celebration Banquet on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at
the Keystone Center.
Congratulations
to the following Reston Collegiate students: Delia Jackson, Michelle
Reid, Keegan Vinck and Brant Price on their silver medal achievement

Graduating All Star Team!
Congratulations to Chris Elliott and Kelsey Elliott for being selected
to this years 2010 Graduating Volleyball All Star Team! They were 2
out of the top 24 graduating volleyball players from A, AA and AAA school
volleyball teams from the province. Held in Winnipeg at the St. John's
Ravenscourt gym on December 4, Chris Elliott competed with friends and
competitors in a fun and intense match. Kelsey was unable to play due
to an injury that occurred earlier in the season. The game consisted
of 2 sets each of 20 minutes in length, in which team gold (Chris and
Kelsey’s team) won 67 to 58. A big congratulation goes out to
them as being only the 2nd and 3rd players from the Reston boy’s
volleyball team to make the team. The only other was Landon Brockman
back in 2007.
